Invite the dawning of more openness to the beauty & complexity of life…

Life is asking so much of us—especially in these accelerating, often difficult times.

Yet life also offers so much to us, never failing to give and inspire.

But are you always able to notice and receive life’s generosity and surprises?
Or do you often get frazzled, overly full, or stuck in the to-do list?

How would you move through the world if you felt more at ease in your body, steadier in your knowing, and more receptive to the subtle wisdom, beauty, and wonder woven throughout everyday life?

(YES, even your perfectly imperfect life holds allure and unexpected gifts!)

This is precisely what Radiant Heart Yoga supports: the ability to flow and FEEL more richness, more aliveness.

Over eight weeks, together we’ll cultivate physical vitality, refined attention, and heart-centered awareness so you can experience more of what life offers.

Remember your playful, joyful astonishment
at this world, how you fit into its symphony,
and how to let go and radically enjoy it.

You have things to do, people to care for, responsibilities to meet. Your mind is remarkably good at keeping track of it all.
Perhaps a little too good:

You think ahead, reconsider what you’ve said, notice what needs tending, and carry concerns that other people may not even recognize. You care deeply about your life, your people, and the world itself.

And yet…there are days when you realize you’ve been so busy managing everything that you haven’t had much opportunity to enjoy any of it.

The body tightens. Your attention scatters. You rush through an afternoon, a conversation, a beautiful moment, already thinking about what comes next.
Even when you finally have time to yourself, the mind doesn’t always know how to settle.

And perhaps there’s something else…

You sense that you’re capable of a richer relationship with life. You have curiosities, intuitions, creative impulses, and dimensions of yourself that rarely get the time and space they need.

You want to be more present for what matters.

You want to feel good in your body, certainly. But you also want to feel at home in yourself, confident in your perceptions, and free to explore what makes this extraordinary life worth living.

Yet you’re also acutely aware of—and touched by—the increasing suffering, confusion, and destruction around you. Somehow, others don’t seem so affected. And, on some days, you question how you’re going to keep putting one step in front of another.
The cruelties and changes of the world sometimes seem so loud and domineering that it gets harder to relax, to trust, to dream, to be, to celebrate.

You know this life is a precious gift. You want to make the most of it and, even on your best days, open that joy for others so they, too, can experience the generosity of really being here.

There is a way to begin cultivating those capacities, right where you are.

Nor is your mind merely a taskmaster, keeping you constantly doing, striving, and earning your keep.

Together, body and mind possess extraordinary intelligence. When they learn to work in concert, they can carry you through the complexities of life—while allowing you to experience more of its mystery.

In FLOW & FEEL — RADIANT HEART YOGA, we’ll remember and refine your inherent capacities so you can live more fully from your own center, while becoming increasingly receptive to the beauty and wonder around you.

As your perception grows more subtle and discerning, you begin to recognize the astonishing elegance and abundance of the living world—and discover more of your own place within it.

You awaken to something SO natural, something you’ve always known but often forget amid busyness or expectations.
Yes, yoga offers more physical comfort and flexibility, and a single session can provide temporary respite from stress. But its gifts go deeper:

This practice invites you to cultivate the very faculties through which you experience your life, making room for the gifts, talents, and pleasures that have always been an essential part of you.

Presence. Sensitivity. Discernment. Receptivity.

And slowly but surely you unearth again the capacity to bring those inner treasures we discover along the way into the world.

Cultivating a Richer Way of Knowing:
What Is Heart Perception?

In yoga’s contemplative understanding, the heart is far more than a mechanical pump or a vector for sentimental flights or hollow, pre-existing formulas.

The heart center is understood and experienced as a seat of awareness—a place where feeling, discernment, and our relationships with the surrounding environment and others converge.

Consider how much you already perceive far beyond what is said or shown:

  • The atmosphere of a room. The felt quality of an encounter.
  • How one stranger makes you feel you’ve known them for years. How an old relationship can still proffer surprises.
  • Watching a young person grow, or an elder age. The changes that map our own spot in this constant movement of life.
  • The unmistakable sense that something is deeply right—or that something should be questioned.
  • The sudden recognition of beauty that stops you in your tracks.
  • The sheer excitement when something is indescribably adorable.
  • The quiet knowing that arrives when you’ve stopped trying so hard to figure everything out.

These experiences are familiar, yet we seldom give them the patient attention they deserve.

Heart perception is the cultivation of that more intimate, receptive, and discerning awareness, inner and outer.

It is a depth of communication.
Yoga brings us there.

Through stretching, moving, noticing sensations, breathwork, systematic relaxation, meditation, and subtle attention, we practice becoming more present within ourselves—and more available to what life is sharing through experience right now, in this ever-opening, magical moment.

This doesn’t mean accepting every emotion or intuitive impression as unquestionable truth. Discernment matters enormously.
We’re refining our capacities of attention, feeling, inquiring…and recognizing what is meaningful, what is fresh, what is needed. And also simply what is to be profoundly appreciated.

What might you discover if you became sufficiently steady to perceive more deeply?

As these capacities grow, we discover a world far richer than the one our habitual thinking has allowed us to experience.

The heart becomes an instrument through which
we perceive and receive more of life.

Its beauty. Its complexity. Its humor. Its surprises. Its tenderness.
Its astonishing possibilities. Its ultimate mysteries.

The Heart, Breathing, and Nervous-System Resilience

Radiant Heart Yoga is also an excellent choice for your cardiac heart health.

One fascinating way to understand the relationship between breathing, physical well-being, and nervous-system regulation is through heart rate variability, or HRV—the natural variation in the intervals between successive heartbeats.

Yoga excels at improving this essential part of a healthy, long-lived heart.

Substantial Movement. Intelligent Ease. Exquisite Rest.

A Yoga Practice That Nourishes the Whole of You:

Each session begins by giving you time to arrive, make space, and slow down.
We start on the floor with accessible, gentle movements that help you reconnect with your breathing, your physical sensations, and your body’s own intelligence.
Rather than immediately imposing a plan upon the body, we begin by listening.

What feels tight? What feels lively? Where is effort needed, and where might something finally release?

As your attention gathers and sensitivity to the body’s wisdom arises, we’ll move into flowing yoga sequences that develop mobility, balance, coordination, and strength.

Expect tons of lunges, back strengtheners, shoulder openers, side stretches, twists, squats, graceful transitions, playful balances, and postures held long enough to discover their particular messages and potent benefits.

Some movements and sensations will be familiar. Others may surprise you.

There will be opportunities to build strength, explore your range of movement, and experience the pleasure of becoming more physically capable—always with variations that honor your own body.

Classic standing and seated yoga postures will unfold from your center, alongside lessons about their deeper meanings from yoga philosophy and ancient mythology. Your yoga poses will teach from within, even as their symbolism gently unfurls life lessons about your connection to human challenges and nature’s creations: archery and willpower, trees and protection, waterfalls and collaboration, life as an ever-moving dance, negotiation, and play.

Then we’ll gradually return toward the floor, using classical seated postures, side bends, twists, and forward folds to integrate the practice and prepare for its quieter dimensions—shifting body and breath toward the stillpoint where inner wisdom can blossom…

Why Presence Changes Everything

This course enhances present-moment awareness.
When we’re tense, hurried, or overwhelmed, our attention can narrow. We may become preoccupied with anticipating problems, managing discomfort, or simply getting through the day.
When you stay stressed, you miss your life.

As we learn to tenderly modulate and better navigate our responses and remain more present,
we create greater room for curiosity, appreciation, and discernment.

We can listen more carefully.
We can recognize what we’re feeling without immediately being swept away by it.
We can stay with an experience long enough to discover something we might otherwise have missed.
And we can receive more of the affection, pleasure, beauty, and possibility that make life worth savoring.

Presence is not merely the absence of distraction.
It is a capacity for being more fully here,
and enjoying your life.

The Profound Art of Systematic Relaxation

We devote generous time to the traditional yogic practice of systematic relaxation:
This is much more than lying down after exercise.

Through carefully guided attention, breath, and awareness of subtle vital points within the body, we cultivate a deeper capacity for receptivity—an ability to gauge where the flow of life-force in the body needs attention, loosening, or increasing.

You learn to recognize unnecessary holding, allow the nervous system to recalibrate, rest, and regenerate, all while becoming increasingly attentive to the subtleties of your own experience—that which powers your own life.

From this quieter, more integrated state, we’ll explore meditation, mantra, contemplation, and visualization.

These practices invite the mind to become both more peaceful and more perceptive.

These help you leave feeling deeply relaxed and wonderfully inspired—newly engaged, with more of yourself available for the life waiting beyond the studio doors and long after practice.

What Becomes Possible as You Cultivate Heart Perception and Feel More at Home in Yourself?

The deeper transformations often grow quietly:

  • You notice that you can remain present during a difficult conversation without losing touch with what you know and feel. You no longer rush to reply. You take your time, and what you say comes out with more truth, more congruence, more impact.
  • You find yourself sharing an idea you might once have kept to yourself. You don’t automatically hedge or apologize. You’re excited to get your ideas out there! You might also find yourself saying yes to an invitation, a friendship, or a curiosity that’s been tugging at you for years.
  • Perhaps you begin to recognize just how harshly your own mind has been speaking to you—and discover that you don’t have to believe every thought it produces. And that there are so many awesome things about you that deserve more attention!

As your body grows steadier and your attention more selective and focused, there’s room for something wonderful: a renewed appetite for life.

  • You go on that walk. You write that note. You clear off that desk and open the blinds so more light gets in.
  • You begin trusting your perceptions, enjoying your own company, receiving the affection of others, and following interests that awaken and nourish your imagination—so even more insights start arriving, regularly and with gusto.
  • And gradually, the world may begin to feel less like a relentless succession of obligations and worries, and more like the astonishing, mysterious place it has always been.

There is so much more of life to savor. And so much more of you to bring to it.

You belong. You are welcome and wanted in this world.

Something Special Happens When You Feel Truly Welcomed

There’s another dimension of practicing at Alligator Yoga that matters enormously: You are seen here.
You are never a body to be corrected or a student to be hurried through a sequence, but welcomed as a whole person with your own unique history, gifts, questions, desires, and potential.

Your fullness is encouraged—the mess and laughter, fears and passions, and everything in between.

Students who were initially shy and uncertain gradually become more comfortable sharing themselves. Friendships develop, confidence blossoms, and people discover interests and abilities they had scarcely given themselves permission to explore.

When people feel genuinely welcomed and supported, something in them can begin to flourish.
You can feel comfortable arriving exactly as you are—and curious about what more may become possible.

Plus, all registered students receive two BONUSES to refine your vital life force and remember why you are here:

INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION BEFORE EVERY GROUP PRACTICE –

Our doors open at 5 pm, an hour before the group session begins, allowing time for brief individual check-ins and energy attunements with your teacher before we gather for group practice. This provides you time and support to ground, get really present, and connect. This “Gating Ceremony” helps you focus your mind, leave behind burdensome thoughts and tension, and, instead, gather your energies to focus on & nurture your well-being. It is a rare opportunity to really connect with an empathic person highly trained in holding space; in a hectic world that is often structured for disconnection, this is often a remedy. Moreover, it makes the rest of our collective time together more potent!

OPENING OF SACRED CIRCLE –

To honor the vast lineage that transmits and intensifies our practice, every group session opens with a sacred Sanskrit mantra to foster togetherness and hone our attention. You’ll be provided the English translation, so your heart and mind understand how we mark time and place to honor, refine, and collectively amplify our efforts, and welcome peaceful, shared, and rich practice.

As always, we’ll also have fun with yoga props such as blocks, bolsters, blankets, sand weights, pillows, and straps.  You will learn how and why each is used, and how adding yoga props to your practice refines your alignment and makes your physical sensations more comfortable or challenging so your yoga is the most beneficial it can be.

Radiant Heart Yoga meets at the beautiful, serene home of Alligator Yoga, right on the shore of Lake DeSoto, at 305 East Duval Street, Suite 101, in Lake City Florida.  Ample parking is steps away form the front door, and additional public parking is available across the street.

Great care has been put into this course as well as the design and maintenance of this studio space – even fresh flowers! – and props so that it is an inviting, nurturing container for you to explore and develop your own inner capacities.

Before each session, the space is energetically prepared with sacred mantra, so your practice can better regenerate and heal you on all layers of being.

BRING YOUR YOGA MAT to each session.  All other yoga props are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own should you prefer.

A Note From Your Teacher

If you’re curious about yoga, I’m delighted you’ve found this page (and amazed you read this far – thank you!).  I’m Virginia Hill, the passionate momentum behind AHA Yoga, and I have dedicated myself to teaching yoga because it has changed my life and those of my students.

I’m Virginia Hill, and I Love What Yoga Makes Possible

I’ve been teaching for thirty years, devoted to yoga practice for more than twenty-five years, and guiding yoga students full-time for over a decade.

What continues to astonish me is how much even seemingly simple yogic practices can reveal when they’re approached with patience, curiosity, and skillful attention.

Yoga has taught me that our capacities for wisdom, beauty, courage, and joy are far greater than we often recognize.
It has also taught me that we don’t access those capacities by endlessly demanding more of ourselves. We cultivate the conditions in which they can flourish.

We also allow space for surprises.

My teaching brings together intelligent physical movement, deep relaxation, meditation, traditional yogic knowledge, and close attention to the individual person in front of me.

I want you to enjoy truly inhabiting your body, appreciating your mind, trusting your growing discernment, and honoring how much richness becomes available when you can truly integrate and honor your unique life.

And yes, I want you to have fun and indulge profundity too! It’s all a part of heart perception and the lineage of the relentless optimism of yoga.

There is room here for serious inquiry, giggles, beautiful surprises, and the pleasure of discovering what you’re capable of. Not performing. Simply allowing yourself to be and shine.

It’s with this knowledge and visceral, energetic experience that I created this new course focused on the heart as an organ of perception, so that each student can explore the deeper dimensions of yoga that are rarely taught in quick classes.

Yoga is an integrative practice that nourishes our being on all levels – from physical to subtle to spiritual – and it is THIS integration is what guides us from rooted wisdom to collective awakening.

I look forward to practicing with you, by your side.

— Virginia

We’ll focus each week on the four entry-points into heart perception: Sensorial presencing and mindfulness, breath awareness, deepening systematic relaxation, and heart-centered meditation. Together, these practices help you move beyond the constant demands of thinking and doing, as well as societal conditions and habits, so you can trust your own knowing and attune to intuitive wisdom, ending isolation and expanding understanding and joy.
